For a trip to Australia, you need a visa or an electronic travel authorization. Find out how much visas, eVisitors, and ETAs for Australia cost and what you can do with the different types of permits.
International visitors can purchase different electronic travel permits or purpose-built visas to travel to Australia. The fees range from 0 to several thousand Australian dollars.
The Australian government charges no processing or application fees for applying for an eVisitor for tourism, visiting friends and family, certain business activities, or for studying or training in Australia for up to 3 months.
The ETA, unlike the eVisitor for Australia, is intended primarily for nationals of Brunei, Canada, Hong Kong (SAR of China), Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, and the United States.
For applying for an ETA for tourist activities, visiting friends and family, or business travel, there is a processing fee of AUD 20. However, there is no official visa application fee.
Fees and validity periods for visas can change spontaneously and without notice by the government. Therefore, please check the current conditions for your visa again shortly before your departure.
The Australian government provides more than 70 visa categories - including 23 family visas, 22 work visas, and six different visitor visas. Costs vary widely, ranging from AUD 0 for the eVisitor to more than AUD 33,000 for joining elderly family members.
