Who needs a visa for Cambodia?

Most foreign travelers need a visa or e-visa to enter Cambodia. The only exceptions to this requirement are being made for nationals of Brunei, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and many diplomats.

e-visa for Cambodia

The nationals of almost all countries can apply for a so-called e-visa (Visa T) for tourist travel to Cambodia. The decisive advantage to the conventional visa is the fast, unbureaucratic, and inexpensive application for an e-visa.

With an approved e-visa for Cambodia, you can enter the country once during the validity period of three months and stay there for a maximum of 30 days at a time. Currently, the only countries without e-visa eligibility are Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Sudan, and Syria.

Requirements for Cambodia e-visa

You may apply for the single-entry e-visa for travel to Cambodia if you meet the following requirements:

What am I allowed to do in Cambodia with the e-visa?

With an approved e-visa for Cambodia, you are allowed to visit the country for tourism, recreation, and sightseeing. Should you wish to work, study, or reside in Cambodia, you will need a visa from the Cambodian Embassy.

How long is an e-visa for Cambodia valid?

The validity period of your e-visa is three months and starts from the issuance of the permit. If you wish to arrive earlier than indicated in your application, you will need to submit a new application.

If you want to travel to Cambodia later than indicated, this is not a problem. However, you must leave within the specified validity period.

A tourist e-visa can be extended once for another 30 days. If you need an extension, please contact the local immigration office or your visa office.

e-Visa for Cambodia rejected: What now?

If your e-visa for Cambodia has been rejected, there may be various reasons. The most common ones include errors in the passport details provided or incomplete information and documents.

After the rejection of your e-visa due to formal or clerical errors, you can correct the mistakes and apply for a new one. Moreover, if you notice an error early on, you can make an application correction even before a possible rejection rather than waiting for the rejection.

Correcting an error in your e-visa application for Cambodia is possible up to 31 days before your planned entry because the authorities start processing applications only 30 days before departure.

Attention

Both a correction and a new application are only useful if the reason for rejection is a clerical or formal error. Should the Cambodian immigration authorities consider you as a person unsuitable to enter with an e-visa, your only chance to travel to Cambodia is a classic visa, which you can apply for at the embassy or consulate.

Entering Cambodia: What to consider?

When you arrive at the airport waiting area in Cambodia, join the e-visa queue and ready your travel documents. These include:

  • The passport you used to apply for the e-visa.

Give your passport and documents to the immigration officer. They will put an entry stamp in your passport, including your departure date.
